The Cleveland Trip Day 2---Discover Cleveland

After one night stay in Holliday Inn downtown cleveland, my free tour guide, Ou, came to pick me up.
Then the second day of my trip got started.


The ship restaurant

First of all we went to have brunch at an atmospheric restaurant, Horn Blowers, beside the Lake Erie. Actually it's a boat floating on the water. So we can enjoy our meal with a beautiful lake view.



It's just a LAKE!!!

Right behind me is the Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes. The water was actually not very clear but the smell was okay. The rocks at thedistance are breakwater.



Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll

I bet you've heard of aerosmith, Queen, Michael Jackson, U2. You know what? Cleveland is where rock 'n' roll music was originated. There are a pile of stuffs a rock 'n' roll fan cannot miss. Actually most Americans come Cleveland just to visit this museum!! The museum is also located at the lakeshore.


Hotel? No, it's a hospital!

After taking a walk along the lakeshore, we drived to the University Circle, where the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), a mergence of once Case Institute of technology, Western Reserve University, Cleveland College of Music, Cleveland College of Art, University Hospital of Cleveland, located. We took a visit at the University Hospital of Cleveland, where the Children's hospital was ranking No.6 in the US last year.



Best in the world!

Then we moved to the Cleveland Clinic, just nearby the CWRU. It's not a clinic by name; it's actually a huge hospital, which led the US, or the world in Heart and Heart surgery in 2004. It's digestive disease was No.2, and almost all of its departments take some place in top 10 of the US respectively. It's undoubtedly to say the Cleveland Clinic is the best hospital in the midwest America. I roughly went through its most well-known heart center and found that there are many kinds of heart-related ICU such as cardiothoracic ICU, heart failure ICU. I can't really tell for what reason it was elected as the best heart hospital in the US. I hope one day I can take a real and thorough visit to it.

Ou took me to enjoy the most famous dessert here, Gilly's donuts, before my leaving. They are so sweeeeeet!!! Americans love them though.

Hey, he is my nice guide today, Ou. He is the son of one of my parent's firends, who is studying the PhD of EE in CWRU.I must attribute my wonderful trip in Cleveland to him. We talked a lot at the Gilly's where we enjoyed donuts there about a lot topics such as politics, social problems, thoughts about the future, etc. He's a nice guy to get along with.
