The Loneliest Loner in the World

Prophets are doomed to live in eternal loneliness.
愈來愈能體會為什麼知識在西洋文學中會具有如此負面的意涵了。

就像The Good Shepherd的主角Edward Wilson一樣,
知道、看到太多別人不知道、沒看到的,從來都不是件好事。
當知道的時候,選擇說或不說都必須承擔風險和責任。
不說,就是鄉愿或虛偽,說了,就是唱衰或逼迫他人順從、剝奪他人自由選擇的機會。

無知,的確是最珍貴的資產。

知道愈多,就有愈多不能說的祕密,同時也就愈來愈孤單。
到最後,即使親如家人同床共枕的伴侶或血濃於水的骨肉,都無法信任,
於是,
no matter what anyone tells you there'll be no one anybody you can really trust. When everything is a secret and your life are build upon secrets, you will eventually be the loneliest loner in the world.
